I had been asked about my setup and this seemed the easiest way to present the answer
These photos are not intended as art.
I've been told that the autopoles really aren't meant for lights,
but with dog photography being a mainstay of my work, I needed
to find a way to position the lights so that an 100 pound labrador crashing into the stand, wouldn't cause it to topple
I've found the autopoles to be helpful in this regard though in other ways they can be a hindrance
But they are absolutely the best thing for hanging backdrop paper short of
any sort of ceiling mounted permanent fixtures
I have to prop my autopoles up with a 2x4--they just won't stay locked. It drives me crazy. And my next purchase will be 4 metal chains. The plastic ones always come undone right when I need them most. (I have canvas and muslin on all 4 of mine so the weight might be too much). And why NOT use the poles for a light stand? Brilliant if you ask me. And while I'm gettting those metal chains a few more Super clamps would be nice.... can't even get any break in price on ebay they are so great they're snapped up at retail. booo.
