Ex-USS VINCENNES (CG-49). Was in the news nearly 18 years ago (July 3rd, 1988) when during an engagement with Iranian gunboats she mistakenly shot down a commercial Airbus airliner.
I remember the newscasters expressing doubts that anyone would use an airliner as a weapon...

She is now decommisioned and awaiting disposal, (most likely sinking as a target) in the mothballed fleet at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
