MOoring cables from the port side of the wreck of the S.S. Catala.
A brief history-- The wreck of the S.S. Catala, which was grounded in a storm January 1, 1965, is shown emerging from the sand at Damon State Park near Ocean Shores, Wash. The ship originally carried Northwest loggers and miners, and was used as a floating hotel for visitors to the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. It was towed to Ocean Shores and served as a charter fishing base before it rolled over on her starborad side during a storm on 1 January 1965. In the 70's most of the superstucture was removed for scrap and the remainder was left in the sand.
