Mother Wolf Spider (large images)

I stummbled on this spider while shooting flowers. It was a great opportunity since it was a Mother Wolf Spider carrying her young. I had the aperture on f/8. Decent for flowers, but I should have increased for this subject to get more things in focus. Nevertheless I took these shots and all seem different and unique in their respect. It was as far as my nerves can go because this is when the spiders are most defensive. It is said that you should never come between a mother and her young.

For your own reference, Wolf Spider bites are painful, but the vemon is not threatening to humans. In fact according to statistics, fatalities from bee and wasp stings outnumber those from spider and scorpion stings/bites so I would worry more about smaller airborne threats as opposed to larger land lubbers.

These picture are at large resolution. Please click on "Original" to get the most details.

Caution: If you are arachnophobic, I highly reccomend you do not do this!
