Arachnophobia

I took this shot on the summer of 2004 when I had the old "obsolete" Sigma 70-300mm macro. This is cropped and viewed by 100% actual pixel size. If I am able to get this close when cropped, imagine how close I can get with the Canon 100mm macro!

Despite how ugly I think this creature is, it was a very cooperative model. It stood still the whole time!

2005 update: I got a similar sized spider with the new Canon lens. But this time, I got a nursing one! http://www.pbase.com/htsung/mother_wolf_spider

other sizes: small medium large auto

A very handsome fellow, we may need to call in Hugh's Angels to squash him.

It's always much more fun to look at bugs and spiders when someone has taken a crisp clear photo of them. It gives me the opportunity to study them without freaking out :) Thanks for posting this one. He was probably checking your camera to see if it was something he could eat. It'd be fun to see how one of these looks like when you've used the Canon lens on them. Good luck, and be careful!
