Randy Brecker has been shaping the sound of Jazz, R&B and Rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from Blood Sweat & Tears, Janis Joplin, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, James Taylor, Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament-Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius, Horace Silver, Charlie Mingus, David Sanborn, Billy Cobham, Larry Coryell and Frank Zappa.
Randy Brecker met pianist Wlodek Pawlik in Poland in 1994. Later, when Randys brother Michael was diagnosed with leukemia, the family began looking for Eastern European donors, who were believed to be the best match, and recontacted Pawlik. They traced the Brecker's family antecedents to a Polish small town Tykocin.
Wlodek Pawlik, an excellent polish jazz pianist and a distinguished composer, composed the Tykocin Jazz Suite in honor of the Brecker family's discovery.
