One of my earliest childhood memories is visiting Aberdeen on holiday from Glasgow when I was about 6 or 7 years old. We stayed in a guesthouse on Deemount Terrace, beside Duthie Park.
On several mornings, immediately after breakfast, I would dash out into the park to sail my little clockwork (wind-up) boat in the pond of this fountain. Simple pleasures!
Today I sat on a snowy bench some 65 years later and drank in the almost unchanged scene of the fountain in the park with fond memories of simpler times…or at least it seemed that way to a small child.
