The bridge was erected in 1830, reconstructed in 1930,
closed to traffic around 1982 and reopened as as a footbridge in September 2008.
When I first came to Aberdeen it was one of three routes into the city from the south,
it seems incredible now that traffic, including lorries and buses crossed it in both directions,
as it is so narrow, especially between the towers.
