Scene of the infamous massacre when the MacDonalds of ClanRanald of Uist locked the MacLeods of Trumpan in the church and set it alight, the subsequent skirmish between the MacDonalds and more MacLeods from nearby Dunvegan was known as the 'Battle of the Spoiling Dyke'. History lesson over.
