Cycling etiquette dictates that riders alert others they are passing, most often with the words, "on your left." Another friend on this year's ride tells of being asked by a female rider, "Why not, instead of 'on your left' saying something like, 'nice butt'?" The suggestion tempted him later on as he passed those nice butts, but he couldn't get himself say other than other than the usual words.
