We'd already seen monk seals on the beach at Ke'e and Tunnels, but were still surprised when this guy swam out of the surf and chose a spot not more than 20' from where my friend and I were playing Backgammon. He didn't seem to mind us being there, and we certainly didn't mind him, so I asked a local who was fishing nearby if we should move. "Why?", he replied. So we didn't. We figure he stayed in that same spot for more than six hours. (Wish I could nap like that)
