Bianca in White

The Overland Telegraph line was completed in 1872. Its chain of water supply wells provided a corridor for travellers and the new settlers of inland Australia. Sam Nicker and his family established a sheep and cattle station here 120 km north of Alice Springs in 1914. This home was built by them in 1916. The cattle station was sold in 1929, however the building continued to operate as a store and telegraph office. In 1932 it was well known as the last supply post for hopeful miners heading north west during the Granites gold rush. The building was finally abandoned in 1935.

It is eerie doing a shoot trying to imagine the hardships endured so long ago as cars flash-by within 100m of this still isolated and largely forgotten ruin. The isolation and hardships back then must have been unbelievable. The vintage-style dress worn by Bianca seemed most appropriate for the location. Thank-you Bianca!
