The Ridge Top 02_08_08.jpg

Today Wanda and I headed up into the nearby mountains to do a little snowshoeing. Before we left I could see the snow blowing from the ridge tops hundreds of feet into that piercing blue sky. Well when we got to where we like to snowshoe it was 15 degrees and the wind was blowing at gale force. At times you couldn't see 10 feet because of the ground blizzard. So no snowshoeing today.

Here is a picture to give you an idea what it was like.

Beautiful contrast and tones here. I love the gnarly trees on the left which give excellent texture to this wonderful composition. Nicely done, Bill.

If you were to travel back in time one thousand years, the picture would look the same. You have captured a moment of perpetual eternity.

The 70-200 f/2.8 L IS has been one of my favorite lenses since i bought it. It is a range I love to work in with my photography.

Bill, I don't know that I have ever posted a comment, but I must say that one of the first things I do each day is check to see if you have put any new pictures up. You do amazing work and Wanda is AMAZING! Question: Since you got the 5D have you used the 70-200mm exclusively on this camera? Tintype Charlie

That looks lovely, sitting here at my computer in the warm.
But I can imagine how cold it was out there for real.
How long does the snow last?

Bill,
This shot sure catches the feeling of the conditions you describe. As much as I know what a trooper Wanda is, I'm not the least bit surprised she wasn't out there posing for you, everyone's got limits, I'm just sorry you guy's were'nt able to get out snowshoing, the B & W really makes this a dramatic image.

Incredible image...one of the better B&W's I've seen you post (sorry, Wanda, but it IS a good landscape *grin*..nothing personal!). Great shot, Bill...thanks for sharing.
