A beautiful photo of a Cedar Waxwings! Really brings back memories of my 17 years in Sacramento California.
We had a line of these berry shrubs along the border between houses and every year between March and April the waxwings came and every year I had to wash the cars every day, sometimes twice, in an effort to keep the bombardment from eating away the paint job. Watching them come in and fight with the Catbirds that were staking claim to the shrub for their nest was a daily curiosity. I still can't figure out how they could eat that many of those berries and still manage to fly away.
I was pleasantly surprised at the memories your photo evoked of my teen years now long past. Than you.

Bill,
Great catch. I wonder if you could share some of your stalking techniques with us snapshot-takers out here. When the waxwings hit our berry trees - usually In February or so -- it is in swarms of 100s, and they leave just as quickly if there is any human movement. One could set up a blind, but you might be sitting there for weeks. You have obviously been able to focus in on just that one bird and branch. Any tips?

Thanks
