These images are from the 33rd annual Maryland Governor's Cup Yacht Race, an overnight sailing race covering a 70-mile course from Annapolis, the modern capital of Maryland, to St. Mary's City, that state's colonial capital.

I was a guest aboard Vienna, Virginia-based skipper Moe Gigeure's 36-foot sloop CRISHELLE, which finished in second place among the 26 boats competing in its class.
