Sunday the weather had abated enough to venture to Plovdiv, the 2nd largest city in BG. So Geoff and I set off, slowly as the roads leading out of Pirdop were still snow covered, we had to climb up and over the Kosnitza Pass to get onto the plain on the other side and then snow free, but cold all the way to Plovdiv. All up about a 2 hr trip.
Got to Plovdiv and after driving around the round about from Hell twice we managed to find a street that looked like it was safe to park, went to Happy Bar and grill for lunch ( just love dinners with picture menus). Deciding that there was plenty of time left we set off crossed the Marcia River up into the town centre. Found the "Main Drag" and explored to stores there, stumbled on the Roman Ruins and was impressed by a country that can take an ancient piece of history and just pour concrete onto it as part of the foundations for an ugly building. Over all I liked Plovdiv and will made an effort to get back there in the warmer months. Caio
