....sitting ducks....under attack

As night darkness fell yesterday, I was shocked by the sound of shotguns and the actual smell of gunpowder. In the sleepy marshes where the birds take refuge at night, there are now hunters. The season goes on for over 100 days. At that rate, one hunter would be allowed to slaughter 700 ducks, not to mention a couple hundred geese and some other waterfowl. The hikers, cyclists, and photographers who frequent these trails sometimes are here at sunset. We can now imagine what is happening to the little ones and their parents. I cannot express myself further. 100 days...............................................................................................................................................................................

Attacking sitting ducks, shooting pasturing cows, making holes in stop signs....what a 'sport'.

I am shocked that you are so close to the so called 'action'. I would have thought that hunters would have to be far from the general public. What a different tale it would be if they got one of their own.
Your picture shows a lovely scene of peace and serenity. It should be there for the masses not to be taken advantage of by the few.

Way to go Sharon! Bravo for your strong words and lovely image. Hunting is a euphemism for killing. How can they?

it's an odd and cynical idea of 'sport' given the hunter's one-sided advantages...at least this little family is intact...so far..

pauvres bêtes ! elles sont pourtant si jolies, pourquoi les chasser ? courage ! v

Hard to take a reality .
Hang on to what you still can , maybe tomorrow you won't see them.
So lucky we are here , no hunters allowed to gun down geese and ducks , they live freely in harmony with nature , sometime they cross the streets and we stop the cars to let them cross to the other ponds and rivers .

How awful it must be to hear this happening, those poor parent ducks if they only knew how heartless those cruel hunters are!

How cruel and heartless these hunters are...I feel your pain Sharon...here they are allowed to shoot deer and moose and i hear the gunshots too...It makes me sick!...BV

Make a petetion and hang it on a fence there so people can sign it! Can't you write an open letter to one of your local newspapers followed with some sentimental pictures of yours? That works or...?
