The Doll

See how the dolls resent us,
with their bulging foreheads
and minimal chins, their flat bodies
never allowed to bulb and swell,
their faces of little thugs.

This is not a smile,
this glossy mouth, two stunted teeth;
the dolls gaze at us
with the filmed eyes of killers.

I think I might have nightmares tonight after seeing this! It's a great photo and quote but I am on the same page as Christine and laine. I couldn't sleep for days after see "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane."

I've always found dolls quite creepy, preferred toy animals to dolls as a child! This one has a very intense stare and Atwood's words resonate! Excellent, very well captured shot. VV

My instant thought was that awful movie with Joan Crawford & Bette Davis. " Whatever Happened to Baby Jane ?"
I think Margaret Atwood must have seen it too :))

Great processing and composition., You focused on the eyes...!! V

Fine shot of the doll, but a scary poem!

Wonderful photo with B&W processing, well done Dennis. V.

a fascinating image, as the doll almost seems a real person recling in the gloom...Atwood's take on dolls is certainly downbeat, and at odds with their popularity with little kids..
