Bumble Bee on Chive Blossom

This was a strange one, the bee didn't fly at all while I was photographing it.
It just crawled around on the flower. It wasn't until I was looking at the subject on the
computer screen that I noticed what appears to be a small beetle near the front legs.
Is this something that is attacking the bee?

hopefully it's a hitchhiker and not a parasite...your photo is the bee's knees though..

Very interesting; I wouldn't have noticed the beetle if you hadn't mentioned it, but an excellent capture of the bee and flower with lovely bokeh.
