The Sausage shop is a “Midwestern style, ma & pa” deli that has been in business for 36 years- one of Tucson’s little known culinary gems. I have been eating there for 26 of them, but had never tried their Rueben…until now. The $8.40 Reuben is served with a small amount of sliced pickles placed on the top of the sandwich wrapping paper and your choice of a bag of chips. The dill pickle slices were very good, but I do prefer a “spear” to slices….The owner, Ken, happened to make my sandwich that day, and lightly grilled the corned beef before placing it between two lightly toasted slices of marbled rye bread. Next, he applied his homemade Rueben sauce, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut in just the right amounts to make this one of the best Reuben’s that I have eaten. I had to go back a week later get another one since my pictures did not turn out well enough, and the sandwich was just a good as the first time….This Reuben definitely is at the top of its class with a grade of an "A"
