Big Nose Kates

Tombstone, AZ

"The Reuben that won the West" is how this $9.99 Rueben Sandwich, in historic Big Nose Kates, is billed. I drove about 75 minutes to get to historic Tombstone just to try this Reuben. The sandwich comes with fries and a pickle spear. So, was the drive worth it? Well, the dark marble ryebread was grilled pretty darn near perfect. I think there could have been a bit more swiss cheese, a bit more sauerkraut and a bit more thousand idland dressing applied to the sandwich, but overallthe flavor was ok. There was a pretty decent amount of corned beef between the bread; however, it was sliced very thick and not very tender for 1/2 of the sandwich- kinda crunchy but not in a pleasent way. Overall, I would give it a grade of C+ I Probably would not drive to Tombstone just for the Reuben.

The Reuben maven is at work again. You should publish a guide when you are done. V

Haven't eaten a Reuben but would prefer thicker slices of corned beef...love your image especially when the sandwich is laid on that checkered wrapper....V
