Crater Lake National Park & Waterfalls

Our annual vacation found us doing a grand road-trip loop through Eugene, Crater Lake, Bend, The Dalles and ending up in Yakima wine country. Little did I realize that this would be a waterfalls roadtrip. Sure, we've been to Silver Falls State Park in Oregon (who hasn't?), but little did I realize that Highway 138 from Roseburg to Diamond Lake is chock-full of waterfalls....because of the time constraints, we only could see two (Toketee & Watson Falls). We camped in Crater Lake National Park (another magnificent body of water), and the hiking highlights was a impressive panoramic view from Mount Scott (@ 8900+ ft elevation, but who's counting) and a brand new waterfall trail to Plaikni Falls. In Bend, we visited Tumalo Falls--you could drive right up to the Falls--it's a far cry from the 2.5 mile snowshoe hike in the winter! Be sure to check out my photo gallery ("Painted Hills & Petroglyphs") to see the other half of our trip through the Painted Hills and viewing petroglyphs on the gorge.
