Took a day off before my Hawaii trip to go snowshoeing at Mount Rainier mid-week. We arrived Wednesday evening and made a beeline to Paradise to catch a sunset--we were met by frigid temps (made worse by the gusty winds), but were treated to an encounter with a black fox in the parking lot. We heeded the instructions not to feed the wildlife, and instead just took a few pictures of him. Bill & I were one of two couples staying at the National Park Inn...waking up on Thursday morning we were treated to a spectacular view of Mt Rainier's peak side-lit by the morning sun... Later in the morning we wandered to Paradise for a few hours of snowshoeing the Alta Vista trail for some pretty grand vistas. While Rainier was lit pretty good, the Tatoosh Range was even more fun. I shot my 24-105mm lens (except when I swapped with Bill for his 17-40mm).
