Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings

On stop 2 of our Colorado adventure, Bill & I stopped at Mesa Verde National Park, just outside of Cortez. Although we were only there for a full day, we toured the Balcony House, Long House (on Wetherhill Mesa), and the other open venues didn't require a ticket (e.g. Spruce Tree House, Step House). Lens-wise, you'll appreciate a good telephoto to pick up structure details from a distance, as well as a good wide-angle (i.e., 24mm or wider) when touring up close to properly frame your shots. Shooting a 24-105mm on my 5D, there were a couple of times I wished I had my 16-35mm lens on instead. Also, travel light when touring Balcony House...to leave the cliff dwelling, one needs to squeeze into a door the size of a suitcase, and crawl through a short tunnel. Oh, but the way did I mention the initial climb up a 32' ladder to enter the dwelling?
