On a recent trip to Cannon Beach for some b-day R&R, Bill & I decided to explore the sights near Astoria. Highlights included two very excellent brewpubs--Astoria Brewing Co (Wet Dog Cafe--their imperial stout is a meal in itself, and the burgers are excellent!) and Fort George Brewing Co (excellent IPA), the Astoria Column (to commemorate Lewis & Clark's discovery) and a cool shipwreck (the Peter Iredale at Fort Stevens State Park). We also checked out the Russell Battery while at Fort Stevens.
