High Falls 0033.jpg 3.jpg
The North Shore-Lake Superior is known for its cascading streams and waterfalls. The Laurentian divide at the summit of the Sawtooth Mtns. Each river and stream flows into Lake Superior. This the Pigeon River's High Falls on the Minnesota-Canada border. It is the highest falls in Minnesota.
It is an interesting falls to photograph. Located in a gorge of black basalt cliffs facing E-NE, A scenic with potential for great contrasts between shadows and light.
Yet, I find it a favorite challenge -- dynamic yet subtle with so many moods.
So Please sit back, Relax and Enjoy .. Would so enjoy where your favorite Waterfall is and what is it that so Inspires or Impresses You about it...; SKYEDANCE

Rainbow Mist-img034 6.jpg
Who doesn't love waterfalls ... this is one of my favorites of Lk Superior's North Shore gems. High Falls, Pigeon River on Minnesota-Canada border a true challenge but one of the most awe-inspiring falls to photograph. Stark contrasts exist with black basalt cliff-faces and the falls flowing over and into a gorge.
Mid-morning ... falls face E-NE ... cliff-faces and falls sidelighted with glistening trickles on the cliff-face. Base of falls highlighted creating a soft diffuse rainbow adding yet another interesting element to the overall compositional palette. Challenge was to capture "silky" effect of the side-stream and main cascade without losing the "braided-like" texture of main cascade.
I hoped to create a composition, not in a defined way, but more like an "expressionistic" painting. There were so many differing shapes and forms created as the rainbow mist rose up from the pool.
My apologies to those who previously attempted to view this photo. I am new to this site and am unfamiliar with conversions of resolution from dpi to psi. I hope this size will be more appropriate.
So hope you enjoy my latest and thanks for taking a moment to share a comment, say hello, or share your most inspeiring Waterfall moment; SKYEDANCE
