In February and March of '06, I spent 5 weeks volunteering with the hurricane relief effort in St Bernard Parish, southeast of New Orleans. 100% of the residencies and businesses in the parish (a parish is the same as a county) were damaged by Huricanes Katrina and Rita, most of them severely. I worked with Habitat for Humanity, gutting those houses that were salvageable so that the owners could begin the process of rebuilding.
The following pictures are intended to show how bad the situation remains on the Gulf Coast, even 7 months after the disaster. These people still need your help. Please, donate your time and/or money. Every little bit helps.
