One of the brightest ideas that came out of the wedding planning was to hold an event in conjunction with the wedding festivities in which the question of superiority of regional types of barbecue could be resolved.
At this event, it was finally determined beyond a shadow of a doubt that Southern style barbecue--in this event, Mississippi style, expertly prepared by the Files (the groom's) side of the family--proved superior without question to the other kind, the Texas style prepared by the Jacob (the bride's) side of the family.
As the poet says, "A good time was had by all."
