Hi,my name is Sherine Hodges. My great grandparents are also the late jannie-Mae Williams Mungin and Deacon Jim Mungin. My Grandfather is the late Matthew Mungin Senior who passed on March 12,2010 and my Grandmother is Ms. Viola Mungin. It feels good to see that we all share a common interest in our families history but, its even greater when we are aware of where we came from so we can share an even grander part of our history with our children.In doing so we both become that much more empowered in this journey we call life. Rememberance and appreciation is just one of many ways we can pay tribute and hommage to our ancestors.

Hello! I am about to marry into a Mungin family who is also from Georgia and Beufort. For our ceremony we wanted to incorporate the meaning of the name. My fiance says it means love and peace. Is this true and where can I find more history about the Mungin ancestry without paying for it?

I'm one of three children born to Sylvester Mungin. He's a Mungin from his mother - the late Georgia Mae Mungin - her siblings are George Jr., Lucille, Beulah and Ethel. They're parents were George & Maime Mungin. George Mungin had 3 brothers - Harry, John and Jack. I'm not sure about his sisters. George Mungin was the son of John & Maggie Mungin...John was the son of Bradley Mungin... thats all I know - My people originate in Beaufort, SC and migrated to Savannah, GA (where my dad was born)...then they migrated up North to NYC. My dads always talked about growing up in Ga., Aunt this or Aunt that.. Cousin so and so, but he'd only taken us south once and I was such a little girl, that I didn't get it. Now that I'm older I want to know so much more and as I continue to find more and more MUNGIN'S I know in my heart that we are all FAMILY. MUNGIN PRIDE!!!!!! Hi Pat: I remember you, your brothers and your parents too. I remember seeing you at the "89" reunion. Tommy Collier and Iris Manley lived in your building. My family lived on the "Avenue" we lived in building 60 on the first floor. It's funny this pass Saturday I saw your picture in Ivan Donovan's gallery. Isn't it great looking back and remembering old friends and good times. We had the best neighborhood. I look forward to seeing more memories via old pictures. Helen Mungin-Deas

My brothers are Billy Dugan & Robbie Dugan.....At first I didn't remember the names but how I remember you now.
