The guy in the Islanders jacket in the "Flyer after game" photo is my father, Ron Waske, trainer for the Islanders from 1974-1984. He is also in the "teams shake hands" pic, hugging equipment manager Jim Pickard. The cup was in our living room later that same night, believe it or not. What a treat for me to see that picture. Both Ron and Jim are being inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame this year. Thanks again.

WOW! Look at the names, Bossy, Gillies, Trottier, Persson (an underrated part of those teams) and of course Wayne Merrick, Long Island loved him so much they named a town after him. :)

Joe, the Isles went on to win 4 Stanley Cups in a row. A feat that may never happen again.

What a great season. Took my son, age 9, to a game that Christmas, when we were in New York. Became fans - a great run (three years, I think). Somewhere in the attic I bet I still have the team jacket we bought for Matt that year. Thanks for the memories.
