Hi Bonnie; My name is Thomas O'Shea I Lived at 229 West 62nd Street in Apt4A. I think the gym dance in West Side Story was filmed in the gym at St. Matthew's church on West 66 or 67 Street I believe.

Bonnie, I was bowled over by your gallery after finding my picture in two of your photos, Kindergarten (2nd row-2nd from the left) and P.S. 94 graduation (lst row-3rd from the right. How delightful. If I recall correctly your mom was a Girl Scout leader and I was in both the Brownies and the Girl Scouts. Our meetings were held at the Community Center. I have such fond memories of that time. And, I do remember you all through P.S. 94. Thank you for a pleasant trip down memory lane.

Dear Bonnie,
I had to thank you for your wonderful 'remember when' pictures. Some of buildings and people I thought I would only see in memeory. Since I still live in the neighborhood I still have all the memories of the old days and what it used to look like. I think this neighborhood has had more renovation than most and its quickly begining to look like a clone of Wall Street(check the mega structure thier building on the old Coleseum site,twin towers yet!). My friend Arlice Sims,is the one who turned me on to this site and I am ever grateful.
PS Eddie Ballard is gone but his brother Anthony is still around and we often bump into each other on Broadway and 61st But he won't come near the projects.

To Issy: Yes, Audrey Golub is the sister of Jeffrey Golub. By the way, one of those three little girls you mention in the photo (bottom left) is actually a boy--my brother, Richard :-) The Golubs used to live at 90 Amsterdam Ave. in apt 5D. The mother's name was Roselle/Rozelle. Glad you liked the photos. Bonnie

Does anyone remember Jane's last name (girl in upper right of this same photo taken in front of the Con Edison Building)or her address in the projects?

I loved seeing the pictures in your gallery. The picture of you and three other little girls provokes me ask: Was Audrey Gollup the sister of Jeffrey Gollup? Their family lived in the projects, but moved out in the 50s.

Sure do remember that dance. Don't think I received a prize--good judging! The gang would kill me if they knew I was [two steping,waltzing,and line dancing] just a few years later. I saw that old picture you mentioned not too long ago and it's one better left hidden. Julio would love to post it as one of his "GOTCHA" favorites. I wish I could come up with a surprize or two for the gallery but you girls got us beat--but I'm looking! Have fun and take care.

To Pat: Glad you like my "relics" from St. Paul's and that they filled in some missing pieces for you and brought back some memories. I still have your ID photo from the Hecker Club as well as mine. I decided not to send them to Julio to scan--I didn't care for mine. If you would like yours posted to the gallery, let me know and I will send it in. If you don't still have a copy of it and want to review it before it goes in, give me your mailing address and I will mail a copy to you. How I managed to have all these relics after all these years is the result of me being a nostalgia freak, especially for the old neighborhood. I had no idea that someday my mementos would bring others joy too. By the way, do you remember winning the "spotlight" dance with me at one of the dances at St. Pauls? My prize was an autographed album of "The Ventures".

Congradulations on the newest and hottest page in the gallery. You have filled
in many missing pieces to the old gang and neighborhood. I have already given
Merrele a rough time on your gallery and thats the best picture I've seen of Janet
Donaghy. Not to say we are ancient, but how did you save those relics of St. Paul's?
Between you and Julio I feel like it was yesterday when we went on those trips
and danced and played WISK on the benches. All my best for now to you and the gang
