Earlier in 2008, the Georges Creek Railway purchased former Western Maryland Railway GP9 #25. After sitting derelict in Georgia for several years, the new owners brought her home. First, was a stop at the Western Maryland Scenic shops for restoration. Once completed, a special excursion was scheduled on the Scenic from Cumberland to Frostburg. The following "photo essay" covers that special trip. But a high August sun and seemingly higher brush would make this a photographic challenge.
Very cool images there Dave!!! I will attest to the sun as my wife and I were right there around 5:30 for dinner. I notice the GP (didn't notice if it was the 25 or the 501)there but had no idea it was a special day. Sorry I missed it.
