The following are from spending three days with Southern Railway 2-8-0 #630. Friday June 22nd, a private photo charter was held at the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer NC. Saturday June 23rd 630 pulled a Norfolk Southern passenger special from Spencer to Winston Salem NC. Sunday June 24th 630 headed another special from Winston Salem to Roanoke, VA. This would mark the first time in 25-30 years a steam powered trip would traverse the "Punkinvine".

Special thanks are in order for helping make this trip a success. First, to Jim for putting together the charter on short notice. Great to see you again and get caught up. But there's one thing I forgot - GO PANTHERS!

To Kevin, Jerry and Rick for being tour guides. Even though Kev was relieved of his duties Sunday and Rick tried his damndest to get me lost!
