This owl was spotted in the tree outside our office in metropolitan Perth. If anyone can identify what type of owl her or she is, please let me know. The girls have named him Oswald and he stayed there for at least a couple of hours.
I think this is a Boobook. They do actually vary quite a lot in colour; some are quite rufous. There aren't many other options in SW WA in any event - Barking Owls are a lot rarer and are bigger and more mottled.
Hi there, no, I don't think it's a boobook or a mopoke. I've seen a mopoke and it's definately not one of those. Mopoke's are greyer and slimmer, if that makes sense.\

love these pictures,looks like a Southern Boobook or Mopoke, because of the noise it makes.
