These gorgeous plants are called Sturt's Desert Pea, Swainsona formosa,
according to http://www.anbg.gov.au/emblems/sa.emblem.html. This web page includes
a distribution map, showing where they can be found. In fact, I just found out that
they're the State flower for South Australia, isn't it terrible that I didn't know this!
