To get any pictures of these Hummingbird Hawk Moths was a bit of a struggle - they fly very fast so the only hope was when they were hovering to feed, I pushed the ISO up quite high so I could stop the lens down a bit in the hope of trying to get a decent focus depth, unfortunately at ISO800 the D2 is a little noisy. The sunlight was very bright so I also used a flash which limited my shutter speed to 1/250 so there is some motion blur. From about 60 pictures I took, these represent the best of the bunch. These are certainly some creatures that I want to photograph again.
Following some advice left for me I have now used NeatImage to try and remove some of the noise of the D2x at highish ISO - For those interested in the difference the original images are in the 'unfiltered' sub-gallery
