In the end, pulp art, as a reflection of pulp fiction, was mostly dames, booze, guns and cigarettes.

Quite an intriguing collection of illustrations here. Currently reading the FBI Story, written by Don whitehead, and published in 1956. while not fiction, it is certainly in the spirit of the times depicted here.
