Whitford Point walk 22 Jan 2011
Very enjoyable circular walk from Cwm Ivy via Whiteford Point lighthouse, with the Gower Society. And the tide level was calculated perfectly :-)
My walk started in Joyce and Mick's garden
Close-up on clematis - looks a bit Japanese?

It's 11:18 and we're heading for the bird hide
Via the forest
on a bright and frosty morning
Masquerading as a summer's day
The ponies ignored us
Nice spot for a coffee break (or a photo shoot if you didn't take coffee!)
Onwards to the lighthouse, past sand dunes
and snow dunes
The party advances
over tricky terrain
but gains it's prize at 12:32pm
The twitchers were already installed at Whiteford Point lighthouse

Whiteford Point lighthouse with - are they birds or planes?
yes, they're planes
The party relaxes and listens to Mike's lighthouse talk
Testing the molluscs?

The last to leave are the walk leader and the back marker, making sure no-one gets trapped by the tide!
Leaving the lighthouse and heading for lunch
Back on easy ground
Beach foam snow reminded us how chilly it was getting
