This was taken on during our cruise through the Hawaiian Island. This was at the Hookena Beach Park in the Kona area, also known as Decker Land.
Hookena Beach is a beautiful black/gray sand beach. As I sat marveling at the beauty of this place I noticed the dock-like structure off the beach that looked like it's been beat up pretty well by the waves of the Pacific. Then comes the magic moment . This 'fisherman' walk up and gets ready to cast his net. Right then and there everything came together in front of me; the composition, the subjects, and the story to be told. So I got in the water and snap this shot representing the conflict between the humbled Humankind and the awesome Mother Nature.
In this shot you have the sea and her waves versus the 'dock' and the fisherman and his net against the fishes he aimed to capture. You can also see the straight line and the angle of the 'dock' versus the curvature on the horison. Finally, I made this a monocrhome image to further the contrasting elements.
I hope you will enjoy this image as much as I enjoy making it.
