Making the preparations for the Midsummer Day and thinking of what pictures to put in the shooting the rain finally stopped and a nice white clouds started to sail on the sky. Setting up the last birches besides the doors to welcome the visitors and looking the house it was obvious what to submit.
As my father died when I was 9 years old it was since then my duty to get these birches every midsummer as the oldest son at home. Later when I grew older I understood it was a honor and a privilege to do that. And it has been a custom with my own family to do so also. In this picture there are the very elements what Finnish people like of: the red house, green leaves of birches and grass, white flowers of marsh tea, blue sky and white clouds. Adding the lawn chair and a little tilt to the house and there you have it.
