Spring traditionally arrives in our part of the world only after the middle of April. Custom dictates that we should not remove our snow tires before the end of April. This is the time of the Landsgemeinde, the outdoor gathering of the electorate where all cantonal business was decided previous to 1992, when the treat of women's suffrage led to its cancellation and a crossover to ballot-box democracy. This is an early sign from Sepp's garden across the street.
