On the 19th of Dec 2006 a ship which was sailing from Icland, named Wilson Muuga, had a problem with it´s steering and which caused it to sail with it´s engines on full throttle up on land and it stranded on the Reykjanes peninsula near to a small village called Sandgerđi. No lives were lost of the ships crew, but two Danish sailors from a Danish coast guard ship, which was near by, drowned trying to reach the ship from sea shortly after it stranded. Then on the 17th of April 2007 some Iclandic rescuers managed to get it out to sea again. The ship is considered a write off after it´s experiance.
