The church was built in 1886 – 87. It is built out of stones. There has probably been a church there for a long time and there is written evidence that a church was there as long ago as in the year 1200. That church was there until 1811 when the parish was abolished.

The people living there were not happy when the parish was abolished and built a new one of wood in 1820 which was used until this one was built. This church is the first one that does not stand inside the churchyard.
