Images from the antelope hunting area in Rawhide, Nevada. Gold and silver were discovered in a remote canyon of northern Mineral County in 1906, which was to become the boom town of Rawhide. The town peaked out at 7000 people in 1908 but fell quickly when the mines ran out to less than 500 by 1910. The town was badly damaged by fire in 1908 and a huge flood in 1909. By 1960 only one resident lived in Rawhide. Around 1980 a large mining company acquired the mining rights and dug a mammoth pit that destroyed all remaining structures. Almost Nothing stands in Rawhide from the past, but its natural beauty lives on.
