Civil War Re-Enactment

The American Civil War (1861-1865) also known as the war between the states was the deadliest war in American history, resulting in the deaths of 620,000 soldiers and undetermined number of civilian casualties. In the presidential election of 1860, the Republican party, led by Abraham Lincoln, campaigned against the expansion of slavery. The southern states, known as the Confederacy, seceded from the United States before Lincoln's inauguration. Across this great nation, history lovers continue to be fascinated by that catastrophic event and stage re-enactments in full uniform as illustrated by these images captured in Red Bluff, California.
