On October 31, 2009 we flew from Dallas to Leon, Mexico (about a 2 1/2 hour flight) and then traveled 1 1/2 hours by van to San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico.

The purpose of our visit: Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
This celebration is a festive time to remember loved ones who have died.

For many years I have wanted to witness this celebration. When Jeremy Woodhouse, a professional photographer here in Texas announced that he was planning a trip... I just about "jumped out of my skin" and signed up.
My traveling buddies included: Terree, Debbie and Jim, Kathryn, Margaret, Rob (from Seattle), Jana (from Holland), and Larry and Mary (who later came to be known as "Margarita Mary").

We explored San Miguel, took a day trip to Guanajuato, hiked through El Charco Del Ingenio Botanical Gardens, visited with the eclectic artist Anado McLauchlin and had the opportunity to visit Rancho Casa Luna to shoot the sunset followed by a fireside dinner.
