Tornado on the Ground!

It was the day after Christmas, 2015, when a tornado struck Rowlett.
We took cover in the bedroom closet with the dogs with our shoes on, expecting nothing to happen
and then we lost power, heard glass shattering, wood splintering and things going thud.
It probably lasted no more than 20 seconds and then there was dead silence.
I cautiously opened the bedroom closet to see that the roof was gone,
all the bedding was stripped off the bed and the contents of my computer room upstairs ended up in the master bathroom.
But we and the dogs survived!

A couple strangers walked in through the downed walls asking if anyone needed help and they led us out of the house.
As we went through the living room, I saw Lucy sitting in the rocking chair unscathed. I was so relieved!

The next day we returned to the house but Lucy was gone! She was not in the rocking chair!
And then I saw her laying out to the side of the house with a severe skull fracture and dismembered.

Was someone up to no-good and did this to her?
I cried! I loved Lucy! We had so many fun times together and she made so many friends along the way.

May she RIP...
And thank you Lucy for all the memories and good laughs we had together.
It should never have ended this way.
You will be missed, for sure!

I was so shocked when I saw her laying there! And that green glass bottle used to be next to the fireplace and came through the tornado unscathed. And to the left of the green bottle is the typewriter owned by Jack Kilby... the inventor of the microchip. Our lives were turned upside down in the matter of less than 20 seconds! Tornadoes are powerful!

My goodness! That must have been a frightening experience. Glad that you survived to tell the tale even if poor Lucy didn't.
