Sleeping mats for the homeless crocheted from plastic bags!

This gal sells honey at the market, but this morning she was busy using an extra large crochet needle and had what looked like a scrunched-up plastic bag
(you know... those bags that we avoid like the plague at the grocery store) that she was crocheting into this colorful mat.

So I asked her what she was doing.
Sure enough... this mat is made of plastic bags.
Seems that some of the local churches have been instrumental in teaching the art of turning these bags into sleeping mats for the homeless.

When asked about the various colors, she could point out bags from Target, Belks, Tom Thumb, the Dollar Store, Walmart, etc!
