This recipe box does not hold recipes, but rather logs recipes that I have tried that rank as good, very good, or excellent.
It tells the rating, the name of the recipe, and where it can be found (book, magazine, recipe file, or filing cabinet) and includes the page number.
I started doing this back in the mid 1960's after we were married and I continue to do the same today.
When you try a lot of new recipes, it is difficult to remember where it came from when you want to make it again.
The photo on the front of the box was actually a painting done by a dear friend's daughter.
I had always meant to get it framed and in the move to Texas, it was damaged.
I liked it so much that I took a photo of it to remember her work of art.
As I look back over the recipes, it is interesting to see how the ingredients have changed.
Years ago, recipes did not include ingredients that are in common use today, such as: sundried tomatoes, goat cheese, truffle oil, or the myriad of hot peppers and hot sauces.
Maybe someday I will organize my recipes on the computer, but for now this does an admirable job!
