Old Wall Photo.jpg

The power company likes to have the inverter, disconnects and meters as close to the regular electrical service as is reasonable. After I mounted the inverter to the wall I hired an electrician to run the AC feed up over the window and into the main breaker box, as well as pull the DC lines through the buried conduit and into the bottom of the DC connect on the left.

How it works:
This is a simplified example of what is going on here, but never the less.
let's say in one month we generate 400Kw of power, and also at the same time we use 400Kw of power. The meter on the right (their meter) would show no movement since what we generate would offset what we use 1:1. However the meter on the left would show an increase of 400Kw for that month. That meter registers the REC's or (carbon offsets, green tags etc) that the pwer company buys from us at .13 a Kw, so in this example they would have sent us a check for 52 Dollars, AND we wouldn't have paid the 50.32 for the power we used, a savings of just over 102 per month
